Wan Lin is a Partner in the Technology & Corporate Intellectual Property Practice.

Her practice encompasses advising clients on a wide range of commercial matters, including drafting and reviewing IT contracts such as turnkey and software development and maintenance agreements, advising on e-commerce projects and issues, advising on data protection and data privacy laws in Singapore, and advising on intellectual property and technology-related issues for regional corporate merger and acquisition deals, contractual joint ventures and collaboration agreements.

She has particular experience in consumer markets, including drafting and negotiating agreements relating to franchising, licensing, branding, distributorships, and hotels and hospitality, and advising on intellectual property-related issues for the acquisition and sale of various household brands. She has also been involved in advising on the setting up of payment and loyalty systems and platforms.

Wan Lin has been recognised for her work in the “Intellectual Property – Trademarks” space, being the winner of this category in the Lexology Client Choice Award 2024. Nominations for the award are only open to in-house counsel, and the winners in the respective categories are chosen for their ability to add real value to clients’ business above and beyond the other players in the market.

  • Advised DBS Bank Ltd on its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking business in Taiwan.
  • Advised The Ascott Limited, a wholly-owned lodging business unit of CapitaLand Investment Limited, on its acquisition of Oakwood Worldwide, including the Oakwood brand and global operating platform.
  • Advised DBS on setting up  DBS Digital Exchange, Singapore’s first security token and digital payment token exchange with an integrated tokenisation, trading and custody ecosystem.
  • Advised The Association of Banks in Singapore on the implementation of the nationwide eGIRO platform. 
  • Advised a regional mobile wallet provider on its tie-up with overseas mobile wallet providers and establishment of a cross-border interoperable payment platform, allowing users to use their home mobile wallets to make payments overseas.
  • Advised Stuff’d on its franchise agreements for its regional expansion.
