Yan Yan’s areas of practice include capital markets, real estate investment trusts (REITs), investment funds and mergers and acquisitions. She has been involved in initial public offerings (IPOs), equity and debt securities offerings, fund and collective investment scheme formation and other general corporate exercises.

She has experience advising a wide range of clients, including government investment corporations, foreign asset managers, government linked corporations, private limited companies, financial institutions and institutional investors.

Yan Yan graduated from the University of Manchester with an LL.B. (Hons) degree in 2010. She was admitted as a Barrister with Lincoln’s Inn in 2011, and an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2012. She joined the Firm in 2011 as a pupil and was seconded to Allen & Gledhill LLP, Singapore in 2016.

Yan Yan is the co-author of the Malaysia chapter of The Securities Litigation Review 2020 published by Law Business Research Ltd.

Work Highlights

  • Advised Semangkuk 2 Berhad in respect of its establishment of an asset-backed securitisation (ABS) programme of up to RM5 billion, and the issuance of 7-year medium term notes of RM850 million under the ABS programme.
  • Advised on a 3-part inter-conditional transaction involving the transfer of a consumer healthcare business to a new joint venture entity, the transfer of an oncology business, and the acquisition of a vaccines business in Malaysia.
  • Advised Nikko Asset Management Asia Limited on the passporting of its retail unit trust fund into Malaysia.
