Florence’s principal areas of practice are Banking & Finance, and Maritime & Aviation.

She regularly acts for financial institutions and major corporations in domestic and cross-border bilateral and syndicated loans, including in areas such as acquisition and leveraged finance.

She also has significant experience advising airlines, aircraft operators, lessors, lessees, ship-owners and lenders on non-contentious aviation and maritime matters, including leasing and financing transactions (including from or through the Federal Territory of Labuan), asset sale and transfer, and the registration of aircraft, ships, and mortgages with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, the Malaysia Ship Registry and the Malaysia International Ship Registry.

Florence holds an LL.M. in International Business and Commercial Law from the University of Manchester. In IFLR1000, Florence has been endorsed as having provided “High quality work for our purposes. Good knowledge of issues relevant to Malaysian banking transactions and proactive management of issues”.

Work Highlights

  • Advised a consortium of international and local banks including Maybank Investment Bank Berhad as mandated lead arranger and book runner, facility agent and security agent, in the financing of the acquisition of a 68.35% stake in Affin Hwang Asset Management Berhad, by CVC Capital Partners Asia V Limited.
  • Advised a consortium of banks in the financing of the acquisition of Munchy Food Industries Sdn. Bhd. and Munchworld Marketing Sdn. Bhd., being one of the largest snack producers in Malaysia, via a special purpose vehicle backed by a consortium of investors including CVC Capital Partners Asia Fund IV.
  • Advised a Malaysian airline on the restructuring of its lease portfolio of 34 aircraft, consisting of B737 aircraft and ATR aircraft, from multiple lessor groups, and on the transfer of its aircraft fleet portfolio of 21 aircraft to help optimise operations and revenue.
