DataGuidance: Malaysia: Enhanced online safety regime
Partner Karen Foong contributed an article titled "Malaysia: Enhanced online safety regime” to DataGuidance. The article discusses Malaysia’s Online Safety Act 2025 (“ONSA”), which came into force on 1 January 2026 and enhances the country’s online safety regulatory framework. The article highlights key requirements under the ONSA, including measures to mitigate harmful content and protect children online, as well as reporting obligations, penalties for non-compliance and requirements applicable to service providers outside Malaysia.
