In his Banking & Finance article, Managing Partner Azman bin Othman Luk discusses the Consumer Credit Act 2025 ("CCA") which came into force on 1 March 2026 except for Part V (Licensing and Registration) of the CCA, which will take effect on 1 June 2026. The CCA regulates the conduct of non-bank credit and credit service businesses which involve the grant of credit to credit consumers, for example individuals who obtain credit for personal or domestic purposes, and micro or small enterprises that obtain credit in an amount not exceeding RM300,000.
In his Energy article, Partner Dzuhairi Jaafar Thani discusses the Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme ("ATAP") which officially opened on 1 January 2026 with the coming into effect of the Guidelines for ATAP in Peninsular Malaysia issued by the Energy Commission. The ATAP was introduced to further promote rooftop solar for renewable energy generation, and replaces the Net Energy Metering Programme which concluded at the end of June 2025.
