Rahmat Lim & Partners has contributed to the Banking & Finance and Energy sections of The Legal Industry Reviews: Malaysia (Edition 7, September 2026).

In her Banking & Finance article, Partner Geraldine Su examines the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Malaysia’s financial sector and highlights the continuing importance of human accountability as AI systems become increasingly sophisticated. Drawing on remarks by Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour at the inaugural AICB Nexus, the article considers the challenges of explaining, validating and challenging AI-generated outcomes, and emphasises the need for robust institutional governance, human oversight and accountability. The article also highlights the importance of balancing technological innovation with appropriate safeguards, noting that while AI may augment human judgment, responsibility for decisions ultimately remains with the people and institutions deploying the technology.

In his Energy article, Partner Dzuhairi Jaafar Thani provide an overview of the sixth bidding cycle of Malaysia’s Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic (LSS) Programme, including its key features, eligibility requirements and policy enhancements. The article examines the three LSS6 packages, which collectively offer significant solar and battery energy storage capacity, as well as requirements relating to Malaysian equity participation, mandatory battery energy storage systems, local content and strategic project locations. It also highlights the increasing role of battery storage and other policy considerations that bidders should take into account when participating in the LSS6 bidding process.
